Answer 1 :
It's snowing there right now so I would call Caltrans or check online to see the road conditions. If it stops snowing they probably would have it cleared by Fri but that all depends on the weather. If it is snowing and closed or chains are required you can try Highway 58 through Bakersfield to Highway 14 which will take you back to the 5 by Santa Clarita
Answer 2 :
No one can accurately predict the weather. What I suggest is that just prior to leaving Sacramento you call the Caltrans Highway Information hot line, and it will give you the latest road conditions. The toll free number is 1-800-427-7623.

About where to stay in California LA Long Beach

Where to stay in California LA Long Beach?
hi am planning 10 vacations to Cali with my family i heard about places like long beach, downtown, or close to disney i love the beach and i want to stay in Long Beach do you think that it worth it like travel from long beach to downtown and santa barbara? please name hotels... and place to visit thank you

Answer 1 :
Long Beach is almost completely behind the LA-Long Beach break water. The water there is good for windsurfing and there is lots of rollerblading. But no waves. If you want to go to Disney Land and Santa Barbra, you will have to rent a car. Leave early for both. The majority of traffic is coming from Disney Land to Long Beach in the morning and opposite in the afternoon. The Majority of the traffic is going the way you are going in the morning for the first 25 miles If you are going to Santa Barbra. The closer to the East the more expensive the hotels. However, Downtown (West end) of Long Beach has good night life. The Aquarium of the Pacific (Down Town Long Beach) is good. The other two big amusement parks are Knotts Berry Farm and Magic Mountain. I recoment the PEtersons Automotive Museam in mid-wilshire. Have Fun!
Answer 2 :
Long Beach is a nice city, and there's a Catalina Island terminal nearby. It's also fairly close to Disneyland. I wouldn't stay in downtown LA...I'd visit, and see the museum of Natural History and IMAX theater, but not stay. The area has a lot of crime. Santa Barbara is a fairly long drive but as long as you don't get stuck in traffic near LAX or coming into Santa Barbara, it's not do bad. Things to do... Disneyland...get the park hopper ticket and go on Soarin' Over California. Here's a tip. If you don't mind sitting apart from your friends, ask at each ride if they have single rider passes. You'll get on a lot faster. Catalina Island: This is a trip in itself and it's best to spend a few days there. The island has one city, Avalon, and then a settlement at the Ismus called Two Harbors. The island offers semi-submarine tours, a snorkel park, trips to the interior to see the bison, flying fish tours, good fishing, great restaurants and atmosphere and the best miniature golf course in the US plus more. Show tapings: Check the studio websites for this. Universal Studios: Not as great as Disneyland but still fun. Santa Monica 3rd Street Promenade and Pier. Griffith Park Observatory. The tourist places...I've never been to them actually. The Getty. There's two of them. One near the 405 that's new, and the other along the coast in Malibu called the Getty Villa. You need reservations for the latter I think. And then in Santa Barbara there's state street, the beach the zoo...I'm sure a few other places.
Answer 3 :
Long Beach is nice, but there are other good places to stay like Santa Monica, Redondo Beach, and Marina del Rey. There are hotels on the sand in Santa Monica like Shutters (which is a bit pricey-- not sure what your price range is) or like the Palos Verdes Inn in Redondo (which is a short walk to the beach) if you're on more of a budget. The Marriott in Marina del Rey is also nice and walking distance to Venice Beach and lots of good restaurants, and relatively close to the airport. http://www.palosverdesinn.com/ http://www.shuttersonthebeach.com/ http://www.sheratondelfina.com/ http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/laxmb-marina-del-rey-marriott/
Answer 4 :
The beaches in Long Beach are some of the most polluted in California. The breakwater keeps us from having waves and the Los Angeles and San Gabriel Rivers dump their garbage on our beaches. Stay in Seal Beach or Huntington Beach is you want a beach close to Disneyland where you won't end up with a funky rash. South Bay cities like Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach and Hermosa Beach are much nicer beaches too.

About how long will it take to travel from South Beach Miami to Dolphins Stadium

How long will it take to travel from South Beach Miami to Dolphins Stadium?
I will be staying in Florida in June. I have plans to complete a tour of the Everglades during the day then attend a MLB match that night at Dolphins Stadium. The match is starting at 7pm what time should I allow to get there in time??
Miami - 2 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
It takes about an hour depending on traffic. I live in miami and i live 3 minutes away from Dolphin stadium. If I remember correctly the everglades are way down south so i would definately leave 2 hours minimum to get there in time adn still have time to spare because traffic can be bad! hope this helps.
Answer 2 :
Baseball plays "games," not matches. You want to be there at least a half hour before game time. Give yourself an hour from SoBe, especially if it's a weekday, it will be rush hour. If you get there early, no problem; you can watch practice & there's other stuff to see & do. It will be better to simply go directly there from whatever part of the Everglades you are at. You can take the Expressway or Turnpike & it will take a little longer than the trip from SoBe. There is no reason to make the long traffic jammed trip back to the the Beach & then back to Miami.

About what is the fastest route during rush hour from Long Beach to the Grapevine

What is the fastest route during rush hour from Long Beach to the Grapevine?
I'm traveling from Long Beach to Sacramento on Friday, and unfortunately have to leave at 4:30 or 5:00pm, at the peak of rush hour. I want to avoid the majority of traffic jams, if at all possible. I do not have a GPS, iPhone, or other means to check traffic while on the road.

Answer 1 :
Being from Orange County & a bus driver that does this route..There is no other route available!
Answer 2 :
youre out of luck the only way is the 405 prepare for a 2.5 ~ 3 hrs just to the valley.. It might be smooth sailing once you get past the ventura freeway.
Answer 3 :
I drive home from Long Beach to Pasadena every single day, and I recommend my route: 605 to 210 to 5. Leave earlier if you can. I actually leave later when I can. The one good thing is that Friday traffic is a little lighter. Pass up the 5 when it first crosses the 605, as that will take you through town, way too crowded. Don't give in to temptation to take the other crossing freeways, such as the 105, the 60, or the 10. Just hang in there all the way to the top, and take that 210! I would not even consider the 710 or the 405. Happy rush hour travels...
Answer 4 :
I wouldn't take the 5, because you'll go through the "Orange Crush", the most congested traffic area in the United States. Doesn't help that the second most congested area is off the 405. But 405 is the fastest. I've driven that route many times. But here's the ultimate best way to check prior to your trip, because accidents always changes that answer. Go to this site always. Use it religiously before traveling during rush hour in Southern California: Up to date based on road sensors. http://www.sigalert.com/map.asp?Region=LA+West
Answer 5 :
fstest route would be in a helicopter otherwise youre screwed
Answer 6 :
Sorry but on Fridays, rush hour starts at 3 PM. There is no fast route, just different levels of agony. The worst freeways are the 405, 110, 710, 110, 5, 101, 134 and 170. Also avoid Sepulveda, the Canyons and Cahengua. The Glendale free, the 2 is OK. It goes from Dodger Stadium to connect with the 210 but is not on your direct route. And in your car, listen to AM1070 for traffic reports on the 5's and AM980 for traffic reports on the 1's. I often flip back and forth so I get traffic every 5 minutes.

About how long does it take for a beach wave to travel 100 miles from the middle of the ocean to the beach

How long does it take for a beach wave to travel 100 miles from the middle of the ocean to the beach?
estimate the wavelength and frequency of waves at the beach, or a waves velocity. there obviously isn't any "correct" answer, i just need an answer that's reasonable. thank you sososo much!
Earth Sciences & Geology - 1 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
It depends on the depth of the water, ocean waves can pick up a speed of 500 mph. As it approaches land it will begin to slowdown to around 20 to 40 mph. A wave travelling at 500 mph would take 20 minutes to travel 100 miles. A wave travelling at 40 mph would take 2 hours 30 minutes to travel 100 miles A wave travelling at 20 mph would take 5 hours to travel 100 miles.

About what is the most inexpensive way to travel with luggage from the LAX airport to the Long Beach cruise port

What is the most inexpensive way to travel with luggage from the LAX airport to the Long Beach cruise port?
I'm planning a trip in July and I don't know if renting a car is an option for the commute. Don't you have to return the car the same place it was rented? Any other ideas? Also please post links so I can compare prices and possibly book something.

Answer 1 :
you can rent a car for a one way trip...its should cost you about 25.00 to 30.00 bucks.
Answer 2 :
check with your cruise lines sometime have have made arrangements with shuttle companies or charter bus companies and if you did rent a car there are no car return offices near the criuse port
Answer 3 :
Use one of the shuttles such as Super Shuttle or Prinetime. If you go to their websites, both have a fare estimator feature. My best guess would be $25.00 each or less.

About can someone tell me about the public transport from Long beach to Irvine

Can someone tell me about the public transport from Long beach to Irvine?
Hi, I will be in Long beach this month end and will have to go to Irvine from there. I need to know if there is any public transport service for traveling from Long beach to Irvine. Also , i would like to know the cost of taxi for the travel from Long beach to Irvine. Thanks
Other - United States - 1 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
Public transportion is not good between Long Beach and Irvine because Long Beach is in LA County and Irvine is in Orange County You can use google.com/transit to map your route. If you HAVE to go all the way to Irvine, it will take about 3 hours. If you can get near Irvine and have someone pick you up, it would only take about 1 hour. Via the bus, you can take a route that will take you from Downtown Long Beach to Santa Ana in about 1 hour. This is very close to Irvine. Unfortunately, it takes another 1.5 -2 hours to go the last 10 miles. Or from Downtown Long Beach you can take the metro to Union Station in Los Angeles, and the Metrolink from there to the Irvine terminal. A taxi will cost about $100. If you were to find a ride and did it during non-rush hour, it would be about 35 mins

About cheap travel from Los Angeles to Long Beach Ca

Cheap travel from Los Angeles to Long Beach Ca?
I will be attending a conference in October. The conference will take place in Long Beach Ca but my plane will arrive in LAX. I'm looking for a cheap way to get to Long Beach. Taxi fare estimates are about $70. Is there any other safe and cheap way I can get there?

Answer 1 :
I love the MTA system. $4 and you can ride all day on any bus, train, or etc. If you're talking about the Long Beach Convention Center, it's as easy as from the LAX, take the shuttle bus (it has MTA and it's blue -- can't miss it, they're everywhere) for $5 to go to union station. From there, buy a $4 day pass and take the blue line subway. After that, if my memory serves me corectcorrectlycan either walk south for 2 miles or take the bus going south and it's at the end of the road. Look on the website and you'll see what i'm talking about. The only downside: This will easily take you 3-4 hours when taxi can get you there in 40 minutes - 1 hour depending on traffic.
Answer 2 :
well you use transt you have two options yu can take Lax G shuttle to the avation green line terminal then take the green line to Rosa park/Wilmington/Imperial station then transfer to the blue line to long beach cost is $1.25 on each train or you could get $5.00 day pass from the Ticket Vending machine then take the blue line to long beach ========================================== \your other routing is take the lax LOT C bus to the city bus center and board line 232 to long beach for $1.25 (the bus is a little slower but you only have to pay once) =================================== now if you have a lot suitcase you can also opt for a shuttle (super shuttle or prime time) to long beach cost about $35.-40.00
Answer 3 :
Yes, you can use the public transportation like the other people see and you will have a nice tour around LA that takes 3 hours. Or you can spend the $45 and take a taxi and be there in 20 mins (the taxi will be much more expensive during rush hour).
